The Easter Lily – great as a gift AND to plant for blooms year after year!
Easter has come and gone, but my lilies are in full bloom. I love them for their giant blossoms and their sweet smell. I often take an Easter lily as a hostess gift this time of year. Most people don’t think to plant their lilies outside after the holiday have passed but lilies are great perenials! Depending where you live, you will want to check the zone and heat tolerance. Most variations of Easter lilies are hardy to zone 5. Also, be sure to plant after the last chance of frost has passed. Spring Planting and the addition of Rain Barrels
Spring has arrived in Texas and my flowers and garden are going crazy. I have high hopes this year, with the addition of our composting bin and two new rain barrels. I may even consider trying the lasagna gardening method… but more on that later. I went to a gardening class in Lewisville, and learned alot about gardening in Texas (far different than Montana). It turns out that rain barrels, not only help conserve water, but your garden and plants like rain water much better than treated water. We ended up ordering two barrels off of Amazon.
