    Bathroom Re-fresh

We are busy preparing the house for a lot of guests and graduation party for my eldest daughter.  The front bathroom was especially overdue for a little refresh.  Here’s what it looked like originally:   Pretty plain but over time the dried hydrangeas fell apart and the stain on the frame of the mirror gave me a western vibe, which is not the vibe of my house …at all! Step 1 I started by replacing the shower curtain with one made from fabric I had picked up at a remnant/close out sale for $1.  My sewing machine and I are on the outs, so I did a quick no sew…

    Laundry Room Makeover

Looking for a laundry room make over?  Here’s my latest project, I added a sink, broom closet, shelving, and lots of storage but did NOT sacrifice on style!  Here’s the old laundry room:   This room had become a diasaster, located off my kitchen and right next to the back door, it was a catch all for everything. You can see from this photo that the room wasn’t small but long and narrow with only one cabinet.  I had added those utility shelves a few years ago, but they were in a bad spot and often we bumped our heads. After a lot of consideration on color and materials, I…

    Peruvian Chicken Marinade

This chicken marinade is my families’ all-time favorite chicken recipe.  Ok, I know what you are thinking…grilling in February?  But this is Texas and we grill year round here!  The reason this marinade is so good is because it softens the chicken without destroying the texture but leaves each thigh super juicy and full of flavor.  Plan to marinate 12 to 24 hours before you grill it.  Despite all the spices in the marinade, it is not a spicy chicken just full flavored.   Ingredients 8 chicken thighs 1/2 cup olive oil 8 garlic cloves – pressed 1/2 cup white vinegar 4 lemons – juiced 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon…

Sausage, Egg and Fennel for Brunch

If you are looking for a savory main brunch idea, that’s easy, relatively healthy and quick – look no further! Fennel with andouille sausage and eggs is amazing!  The best part is that you can increase the amount of fennel, reducing the amount of sausage and the dish is lighter but with all the flavor of a full serving of andouille. Start by chopping thin slices of fennel, using only the bulb of two bulbs of fennel.  Add EVOO to saute over medium heat with fennel. Next add the andouille sausage cut up into bite size pieces.  The sausage is already precooked, but the flavor of the sausage is released…
