Conservation at the Consumer Level – Part I
Living a more mindful life has everything to do with conservation at the consumer level. In my journey to simplify my suburban life of excess (yes, I am as guilty as anyone), I have come up with some strategies that are easier than you think to slip into your daily life. We have noticed some unexpected benefits. when you use less you spend less when you focus on core needs versus wants you end up focusing on what’s ultimately important to you when you consider what you put into or on your body, you end up putting less trash on the curb and into the ground In this…

The Flawless Chaos Shop is NOW OPEN!
For anyone who’s checked out my shop tab, you probably noticed that it’s been “coming soon” for awhile now. I am proud to say that officially, the Flawless Chaos shop is now open and I will be adding to the product selection gradually. The offering is centered around handmade, organic, earth friendly or items with a bigger purpose. I have been busy researching small “mom and pop” companies that are devoted to natural products and clean living. Every dollar we spend can be a voice for change. Save the cypress groves by supporting your local arborist
What can you do to reduce waste, save money and potentially even help with reducing the destruction caused by hurricanes? Don’t buy commercial mulch! 70% of mulch sold in the US is made from cypress trees, while naturally organic and well liked for residential and commercial use, we are destroying our cypress groves that are crucial to swamp habitat in the coastal southeast and southcentral US, as well as, protecting our wetlands. It had been quite some time since I…

Burrito Bowls – the ultimate “transitional” meal!
It’s Monday, hopefully meatless Monday and I wanted to blog about one of my favorite dishes that transition to vegetarian and vegan super easy! Burrito bowls are also a great way to provide a quick, healthy and delicious meal for a group. There are literally a hundred options of what you can add to your burrito bowl (I won’t list all of them but you get the point). No matter how long it’s been since you have gone to the grocery store, you can come up with a delicious combination. I will break it down into five categories: green base, grain layer, bean or protein layer, veggies, and toppers. I…

Pumpkin Soup and Peruvian Chicken go Vegan
Why eat plant based? For me, it’s about the environment and knowing what I am eating. Plant based foods are better for the planet and of course, better for our bodies. While I can’t say that I will ever be vegan, I have really enjoyed incorporating more plant based recipes into my cooking. While I love many of the new foods and recipes, there are a few of my old favorites that I miss…Which is why I have come up with some alternative versions. Peruvian Cauliflower (formerly Peruvian Chicken) I have served Peruvian chicken at countless family gatherings and I will say it is a favorite among my family and…
